Up until December 2015, § 217(f) the New York State General Municipal Law stated the following:
In computing credit for those active volunteer firefighters who also serve as paid employees within a political subdivision of the state, credit shall not be given for activities performed during the individual’s regularly assigned work periods.
This section of the statute was repealed by chapter 534 of the laws of 2015, signed by the Governor in December 2015. If your documents include this exception, they should be updated. Furthermore, if your points application tracks when employees of a political subdivision respond to an emergency (or attend another function) during their regularly assigned work periods, that tracking function is no longer necessary for LOSAP purposes.
